Dude. You can actually watch him bottle all that up, stick a cork in it, and label it “deal with this never”
There’s also the scene on the Quinjet as they’re flying to Clint’s farm; he’s sitting in a corner, hand clenching and unclenching, jaw working as he literally swallows his grief and pain at once again having what he most wants snatched away from him. He’s the leader, he knows his team needs him, and he’s bottling up everything because there’s no time to let it out right now.
Steve do-NOT-bleed-on-other-people Rogers in action.
#Clint’s home must have been such a horrible shock for Steve though#It’s the American Dream he wanted but could never have#(except for the faintest hope when he took the serum and met Peggy)#and Steve thought he’d left those dreams behind when he went into the ice#but now he sees CLINT – another Avenger who lives the superhero life#Clint has made this beautiful life for himself#Which means it’s not impossible to have this job and a family like Steve had convinced himself of#It’s entirely possible to have both worlds#and in this moment Steve realized that it’s not the job that stops these dreams#It’s just him#Maybe he’s just too broken for love and a family#and that’s a horrible realization to make.
